"Memory Card Problems"

When using my original Playstation occassionly all the data on the memory card would go but the icons for it still there (could not open the save game) this is very anoying as it was on Gran turismo and i lost all my cars!!! why did this happen can any one help and has it been solved in the playstation 2

p.s. i now keep a backup memory card with all my saves on it

Ive found that Nugen memory cards are the best.
Simply class, better than officials cause they dont use batteries, they save the games on RAM

cool thanx it was an official memory card but might have just been screwed up when they were making it + i havent had any more troubles with my playstation memory cards incase any one is reading this

Did you use official memory cards, or the cheaper thrid-party cards?

I have 5 memory cards - all official Sony ones - and have never had a problem.

I did have one freebie, unbranded memory card from the cover of the first issue of PSW magazine, and that got corrupted twice, so I binned it.

I have heard stories of game-saves being corrupted on PS2 cards, but as far as I know, this was to do with the use of the DVD software, which on Japanese consoles must be loaded onto a memory card. However, this is not necessary on UK models, so I don't think there'll be a problem.
