Grand Theft Auto doesn't get a look in at the prestigious British awards as Bungie's Xbox shooter takes top honours

12:44 The BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards for 2002 were announced in London last night, with Halo scooping the most sought after gongs for Best Console Game and Best Multiplayer Game.
Take-Two monster hit Grand Theft Auto III was nominated for six awards and came away with nothing. Talk suggests the game simply wasn't "worthy" enough to be honoured in the mainstream awards.

Other winners include Grand Prix 4 for Best Sports Game, which raised plenty of eyebrows from Pro Evolution Soccer fans, and Neverwinter Nights for Best PC Game.

Nintendo's quirky strategy title Pikmin won the Interactivity award, and Ian Livingstone, long-standing Eidos stalwart, took away The Gift of The Academy. No one could argue the last one wasn't well deserved.

Rumour is now circulating that next year's event is to only involve games. The ceremony currently incorporates websites and other categories as well as games.

IF I do get xboxlive I probably won't be known as Mantis-coz it sounds plain geeky.

My friends, brothers etc have no Idea i spend some spare time discussing on these forums. If they found out my sign in name was Mantis i'd get the slaggin of a lifetime.

I'll change it to somethin more common. That is IF I get broadband.

In nearly every online PC game my name has been gamezfreak so i am keeping it that way!

At least I'm not the only guy screaming originality then. ;-))
One plus though is that we won't have much problem tracking eachother down. ;-)

I will be definately going online, i am getting my parents to order it on November 30th and i will be most likely getting it on Christmas day with a few games.

My Dad will probably be bitter because I'll have a better setup in my bedroom then there is in the living room. ;-))

But once X-Box Live comes along, between that and watching DVD's, I probably won't need to leave my room much. Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe I should invest in a little fridge too. ;-))
