Each different console type and the Pc provide many different forms of gaming but the question is which povides the best and what are the advantages of each.
Consoles provide an situation in multiplayer where everyone is brought together around one screen environment which creates a unique atmosphere with in games. There is nothing quite like a quick game of goldeneye or tekken to built up a competetive streak between eack competitor. As you are all together the battles feel personal you know who you are up against and the game is rapid crazy. The great thing about consoles is that you don't purely derive all the pleasure from playing the game itself but the shouting or the cries of "what a headshot" add to your enjoyment. It is a more social form of gaming and this should be recognised by anti game campaigners. Far from destroying the minds of Britains youngsters multiplayer gaming can actually improve social interaction and improve creativity within us as well as improve the confidence of some. Although this may they claim lead to us becoming "couch potatoes" gaming can through stronger social links lead to people participating in a wider range of activities and make us more inclined to do more. PC gaming and internet gaming are a different situation. I personally am a big fan of PC games but am all to aware of how hours can simply be "lost" playing games. on more than on occasion i've sat down to a game of champo and seen the evening and a large chunk of the night simply disappear. You tend to get more drawn into a PC game and it is easier to get addicted. Multiplayer PC gaming whilst more personally involving are less socially active. Whilst enjoyable there are the obvious flaws of a non level playing field due to different speed connections and computer performance. With all types of gaming the games you enjoy are purely a matter of taste. Shoot'em ups and the likes although regularly accused of promoting violence seem to have little effect on most people as they appreciate that it is only a game. It is stupid to blame the faults of society on the games industry. I don't believe that gaming prompts violence but more our experiences in life campaigners must appreciate that it is the way people are brought up and how they interact with other people is what really crafts our personalities. If used in moderation gaming is definitely a plus to society as it entertains and brings us together, it is a tool of enjoyment rather than a way of life, the events of a game for the majority of us does little to damage us but can do much to improve our standard of living.

SO what you saying? Videogames are to blame for an increase in violence.
Last century we had two World Wars and the Holocaust. What was to blame for that? - Oh, that must be human nature.

Only recently there was that report that said that analysts found kids who played a 'healthy' amount of videogames had appreciably higher IQ as a direct result of it. Faster reactions, more dextrous, smarter...(if the game requires puzzle solving). Oh, and they're fun. Forgot that.

Like you say: "it's the way people are brought up and how they interact with other people is what really crafts our personalities".

If someone plays GoldenEye then goes outside and blows people away, it's not the game that's to blame, it's the fact that they are obviously deranged.
