Please read this little piece I have written and let me know what you think. I tried to make it unbiased (although thats hard as I love GameCube) and truthful. However I am unsure if I should post it in the Xbox and PS2 forums.

It had seemed an age since GBA had got any sleep. It was all well and good being portable, cool and addictive but whoever came up with the ‘gaming 24:7’ motto needed a smack in the mouth. Hopefully his new plan would work. GBA prayed it would work. It had to, or Nintendo would flounder and he’d be out of a job. The only way for him to get some rest and keep Nintendo in the scene would be to introduce everyone to his brother and friend.

The playground was crowded as usual. Full of eager players, some old, most young and all vying for who was best. Of course, there were some consoles that everyone would agree on – over in the corner of the playground DreamCast, PlayStation and N64 all sit around a fire with bottles of cider, cursing their superior consoles and wondering where it all went wrong. Of course many of the people knew that it was Sony’s fault, that they changed the whole way the playground worked with their millions of casual gamers and floods of crappy games. Psone did not curse as much as N64 or DreamCast and instead looked resentfully over to where the new guys were being admired.

“Look! Look everyone! I’m the most powerful console in the world and if you make games for me I will pay you millions!” Xbox waved wads of cash over his head and as a few readies slipped and fluttered to the ground many small-time developers looked up and gasped, rushed over and signed up. The mighty Halo loomed over Xbox’s shoulder and chuckled. No-one could defeat them.

PS2 glanced over from his corner and smirked. What an idiot that Xbox was! Didn’t he realise that PS2 already had a self-installed user base of millions!? He had no chance. The sleek black console drew a gulp of smoke from his cigarette and gazed distastefully at all the fans, games and developers around his feet. The fans meant nothing. Only a few of the developers and games meant something to him, but apart from that…no, PS2 was happy with what he’s got. All he needs is DVD playback and a couple of USB ports to survive, not matter what the others say. What rubbish the others were saying, that he was old-hat already and his major drawbacks were too severe for him to survive! Piffle! All the fans, games and developers around him wagged their tails devotedly, save for a few around the edges of the crowd who glanced at each other and then sneaked away. PS2 shook his cigarette and heaps of molten ash rained down on his followers.

Turning the corner with his brother, GBA looked on this scene with resentment, but also hope. Although he would have dearly liked the see the old days of the Nintendo-Sega wars where each company constantly strived for quality and classic gameplay, the small portable wonder could also see that such competition between these three powers would also mean diversity, competition and something to please everyone. He could sense that his brother was nervous, but strangely confident at the same time. GBA was relieved to see that in one corner of the playground, an expectant group had abstained from all other consoles in wait of his brother. Inspired by this sight, the two made their way down the hill and swung open the rusty gate to the playground, which shrieked in pain and surprise at this unexpected entrance.

PS2 glanced up and caught his breath. What the hell was that? Is this a joke? He looked over to Xbox who had ceased waving cash about and was gawping at the new arrival.
GBA took a step forward and announced his brother’s presence. “Morning guys,” he began, “I’d like you to meet my new brother. His name is GameCube.”
The group who had been waiting patiently rushed over and warmly greeted the new arrival. All the Xbox and PS2 fans were silent, but some were smirking. It was tiny, it’s hardware must be pathetic! Where do the DVDs go in?
The cigarette in PS2’s mouth rolled to the side and slipped out to the floor, crushing someone. Xbox’s money was released and spiralled to the floor. Halo was eyeing up the gang of 20 behind GameCube with murderous fear.

Then GameCube spoke. It’s voice was tiny, yet their was a power behind it that hit the other consoles like a brick. “Hello there. I am GameCube. I don’t play music or run DVDs, I’m here to play games. Who will join me?” He looked around expectantly. Everyone was. All over the playground eyes were on each other.

hmmm...I'm not sure If I'm brave enough to post that in the other forums, looking back on it it does seem a little biased. I'll bung it in the Long, Interesting or Amusing Stories section though. Thanks for your comments.
