The norm for other providers, even people like Plusnet, seems to be 100 MB nowadays!
There are actually a number of very good technical reasons for this limit being imposed, not the least of which is the overall impact on the servers caused by excessively large files and, probably more important from the customer's point of view, the ability of receiving accounts to accommodate the large files themselves (no point in allowing it to be sent if the receiving service rejects it).
Generally speaking, for files of that size, Dropbox or a similar service would be more appropriate, faster and more reliable as a means of transfer to another party.
Google webmail.. 25Mb
Yahoo Mail 20Mb...
BT 35Mb (but not "guaranteed" over 25Mb) for sending AND receiving
AOL, Talk Talk 25Mb (less than 20Mb in actual terms)
Hotmail 25Mb...
