"Tennis" The original Mono one on the old GameBoy classic and then on Pocket.
This game is simple. Almost as simple as Tetris. There is no fiddley controls, no multiple options and confusing menu's. You just choose what level you want to play at, which, doesn't determine the computer players ability. It just speeds the game up.
So, you choose 1 out of 4 and the computer will be the same, just the game is played slower. Clever if you ask me.
Its tennis, out's, duece's, in's, match point's etc. Its like that. But, to make a game special, you have to have special things right, but, sometimes you don't notice the special things.
The gameplay is soo smooth, it runs like water. You can lob, serve, or just hit the ball. Simplicity is key here.
You can't really comment on a GameBoy's graphics or sound, because compared to a console, they'll always be poor, so I can only comment on how addictive this game is.
I don't know why its so addictive, because I don't really like tennis "That" much but it keeps on pulling me back for another go. There's no players to choose from, only one mode of play, on paper you'd think that this game is pretty rubbish, but its damn well not!
You'll be screaming "THAT WAS IN YOU FOOL!!" in a matter of minutes, its that.. annoying in a way. But, thats what I like about it. Its annoying. but its so satisfying when you send the computer the wrong way leaving you just to tap it the other way.
Thanks for reading my little review of a little game.
