The BBC has for many years allowed website owners to display the local weather on a website by using a simple iframe - they stopped providing this service in November 2013 breaking quite a few sites!

The 'widget' was looking a little dated and didn't use the BBC's current design. Anyone using the iframe now gets re-directed to www.bbc.co.uk/weather

There are a couple of comments on the BBC Internet blog where they explain that RSS feeds are still available and they are looking at possible ways to reintroduce a replacement service in the future.

It seems the BBC have forgotten websites and have focused on phone/tablet apps lately.

In the meantime I've managed to find a decent free replacement weather script. This one takes it's feed from Yahoo! Weather which in turn pulls it from the Weather Channel - the actual weather is rubbish wherever it's from! ;¬)

I've put a demo together here: Website Weather

I liked displaying the BBC forecast but until they create a replacement this seems to work well and is much more flexible to customise.
