Clues, Clues, Clues
You have to pay attention to games. When you start to play them, you have to listen, read and look, to find out those things that help reveal the storyline to you. Games that are clever put things in at the beginning of a game and bring it up at the end.
A prime example of this, is in the introduction to Metal Gear Solid 2 when Snake jumps onto the tanker, when his name comes up, it says ‘David Hayter.’ Now, the storyline is that you don’t know whether Pliskin is Snake or not, but when it shows Pliskin’s name, guess what name comes up, yes, you guess it, ‘David Hayter.’ And another thing to do with that, in the film ‘Escape from New York’ there is a man called Pliskin Snake! Weird but interesting!
Another thing, in Metal Gear Solid 2 the ninja’s back. But wait hang on; didn’t he get squashed flat by Metal Gear Rex? What’s going on? Has Hideo Kojima and his team forgotten this? Or is it a different person though?
I have heard people moan about how long the videos are in Metal Gear Solid 2 and they have been skipping them but if you skip videos of the talking bits in games, you could miss out on these little clues that could help out with the story or just be very interesting. Developers add these things on to make the game more appealing and so that you have to play the game over and over to fully understand all the twists and turns in a games storyline.
I suppose that these little details that the developers put in the game are there to make you thing about the game and what it all about. I think with the scattered clues around games and because you need to think about the puzzles an the storyline this is what you would call ‘Adult Gaming’ I say that a game with a great storyline, needs to be played a few times to fully understand the twists and turns.
But to find the little clues that reveal the storyline are hard to find. I think that the developers put them in to act as kind of a test, to see how much attention your paying to the storyline and the game.
This topic coincides with my GAD topic under development, which is about ‘A proper Storyline’. (Watch out for that!) I think that these little clues providing that you understand them can effectively make the game and the enjoyment you get out of it, much better.

Yeah, they said something about the music on the DVD bundled with the MGS2 game. They mentioned the opening few bars of Olga's theme at the Tanker was the same as the Ninja's, or something like that.
