Yeah as venom says its one of the bodys first lines of defence from germs/viruses/bacteria. Although it is unsightly i tend to pluck it out, it makes my eyes water, but i dont sneeze.

It more to do with catching all the crap that's in the air, than keeping your inner nostrils warm. Which goes partway to explaining why your nose clogs up with all sorts of gunk.

I can just about bear with the plucking. I have good control over muscles on my face, so I can kinda combat it enough not to hurt, but I can't stop the sneezing.

Nosehair is annoying. It grows.. and inevitably needs to be trimmed, unless you're intent on growing a medal-worthy nasal beard. But plucking will cause extreme pain and/or sneezing fits, whereas cutting with anything but surgical precision reults in the loss of 1/3 of your blood supply.
Nosehair is there just so we realise how weird we look to other animals.
