LAN Gaming in school, will it ever happen? I doubt it. Unfortunately teachers and parents alike underestimate the need for video games in a childs life. Quite often, when I get really annoyed, I just sit down at my computer and I feel a bit better knowing that nobody is going to bother me for at least an hour.

If they put LAN gaming in school, it would be very popular and they could charge if they wanted.

To the best of my knowledge the computers at my school can only run the origional GTA, so for a few weeks me and my mates held 4-way LAN games at lunch times.

Then the teachers found out... :-(

Sounds like you should be studying English in primary school first....

My school wouldn't let us play games on the LAN, even if we provided the games, and used the computers in our breaks/study periods.

The main reason being that the computers are in bad enough a condition as it is, and it's not through overuse. Most pupils in my school believe it is their duty to destroy the school's equipment, not realising it effects the other pupils in the school who do want to pass their exams and produce decent coursework.

If the equipment was treated properly, the school would possibly consider upgrading the computers so that they're not all windows 95 with only 6 programs on them and a very small amount of RAM. Then network gaming could become a possibility, but because of the way the pupils treat the school's equipment, I can't see that happening for a long while yet...

there was a lan network in our school. allthough i'm now at college. at lunch or when we had nothing to do in i.t, we would play games like duke nukem or quake and blow each other to bits.

They used to let people at our school play age of the empires against each other, at lunch times, but problem now is the pc's at our school can't cope with most games now.
JUst don't think the school would spend the money just to give us something else too do at lunch times.

Schools aren't a place for games, to be honest.

More funding for school libraries would be a much better idea.
