Cos I wanna ger Virtual PC on this Mac - just so I can use Morpheus/Kazaa/AudioGalaxy - I'm gonna need more RAM for it, cos it's a pretty program. Anyways, you can upgrade this iBook all the way to 640Mb RAM, but I know that would mean getting a 512 SDRAM chip and that's probably somewhere in the £300 - £400 region. So, I'll settle for a 256Mb chip, but does anyone know where to look? Apple, seems useless. Macwarehouse, ain't much use either.

Here is what it says I need:

SDRAM cards must be Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (SO-DIMM) format, 1.25 inches high or shorter, PC-100 compliant, and 3.3 volts.

That's just too damn complex for me.

Cheers in advance.

You probably get guarantees and a pretty bag with the Mac Ram though.

Cheers, Chris. I actually just got told about another site, that does it for £188. If I bought my iBook with 640Mb RAM, it would have cost £290 excluding VAT more. That is a bit of a difference. Greedy people at Macintosh.

Dabs sell SO-DIMM SDRAM for quite reasonable prices. You can get a 512MB 144pin SODIMM PC133 SDRAM Non-Parity for £215.41 inc. VAT. This is for Crucial Memory, which are a pretty good make.

I suspect the SO-DIMMs are *NOT* SDRAM, and that you'll have to go to a Mac-related dealership to get the SO-DIMMs, either that or a good computer store.
