I have just signed up for a couple of domains though GetDotted/Freeola.. and only just realised that you can only upload to the freeola FTP if you are connected to it. Now, I have BTOpenworld ADSL - and am not very happy about having to use my old 56k modem to upload..
Is there anyway, I can connect to Freeola using my Alcatel Speed Touch USB ADSL modem?
Thanks
Got Debian by the way, just trying to get Nero to burn the ISOs, stupid thing..
BTW people shouldn't knock BT's ADSL - even if you go to another supplier, most of the time you are getting the service in exactly the same way. And to make you think they're cheaper, a number of the opposition quote their prices without VAT, so they are not actually any cheaper. I'm not a particularly heavy Internet user (my quarter phone bills were normally less than 75 quid) but being able to upload my photos in a fraction of the time makes 90 quid a quarter worth it. And I've been listening to high data rate Internet radio for three hours this evening - wouldn't want to do that on a modem!

Any more news yet as to uploading via existing broadband connections - i.e. my current ntl: cable modem?
I recently had a major disaster on my PC, and have had to recover my website by downloading the content via 56k modem. This meant I was connected for over an hour - and I've yet to upload the changes!
A simple login and upload via cable modem (with small monthly charge, obviously) must be pretty easy to implement, and could surely be implemented relatively quickly, compared to offering your own ADSL connection service.
I can log into my control panel and change my e-mail settings etc. from any connection, so why can't I update my site? With respect, I don't really see why those of us who already have broadband need to wait for a service we have no interest in anyway (I certainly have no desire to switch from cable to ADSL), when a simple pay-and-login setup could likely have been implemented months ago.
