Yes you need to be on a Freeola connection to use the 'free' standard hosting package - works well for me!

You can use Freeola dialup to FTP your data if you can't switch ISPs. This would be economical to put a website in place.

Well done to Hmmm for his reply. But this situation does happen frequently, so ...

1. Isn't it time that a Staffie responded as well ... and ...

2. Why doesn't Freeola actually make this 'situation' clearer to prevent this misunderstanding happening in the future?

Just a suggestion ...

Mmm, did I figure this out the right way? Freeola connection needs to be purchased before an external FTP-software like FileZilla can be used to upload data to users free website, even if the amount of data would be really really small?

If that's so, then is the only totally free path available via the automatic website builder?

Either way, thanks for your help.

Are you connected via a Freeola connection?

Same here. I'm using the free hosting, so I guess that's the "Standard" one.

For FTP I'm using FileZilla. The host, username and password are the right ones that are shown in my Options & FTP Settings.

The connection passes the username part with green lights but says "530 Login authentication failed" when at the password.

I've done this before on other websites, so I somewhat know what I'm doing :-)

Hi and welcome to the forum!

It's always worth saying if a query relates to Standard Hosting, VIP or InstantPro when posting :¬)

HTTP 530 is often seen as an FTP login error - so I'm wondering if you are trying Standard Hosting but perhaps aren't connected via a Freeola internet connection?

Perhaps you could provide a few more details?
