"New PS2 Owner: What Games Do I Buy?"

My brother has just given me his PS2 as he has just bought an X-Box and the only games he has left are PRo Evo Soccer and Devil May Cry, Both of which look promising.

What other games are a must buy for the PS2,UI like all genres but don't want to waste my money of tripe.

My top 10:

1. Pro Evolution Soccer (but get PES2 to replace it in 2 weeks)
2. Grand Theft Auto 3 (same as above with GTA: Vice City in November)
3. SSX Tricky
4. Stuntman
5. Gran Turismo 3
6. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (TH4 shall replace it in the next 2 months)
7. SmackDown 4: Shut Your Mouth (when it comes out)
8. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty
9. Burnout 2: Point Of Impact
10. Medal Of Honour: Frontline

Everybody needs to have some ssx though, make sure you get one of those games - SSX if you want a cheaper option (its platinum) SSX Tricky if you want a more finely tuned game with crazier moves and tracks, but not budget.

GTA 111 - Or you could just wait for Vice City
Burnout, Or No. 2
Deus Ex
Final Fantasy X
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty
Wipeout FusionTimeSplitters 2, or... You know. (No.2)

That's about it, theres alot of good games coming out soon, but be careful your sure what your buying is what you want.

Of course, even though FM's list from PSW shows all the great games, there are plently more. And it's also ideal if you don't purchase them all in one go.

The old and boring way - listing my top ten games, don`t let it influence you much, its just my opinion, but it might help.

I've got 19 of the above in my collection, but I've put 'essential' next to the ten games in the list I couldn't do without.

Burnout 2, best arcade racing game out now, of course there's GTA3, but If you can wait the much better looking sequel will be out soon, and there's Timesplitter 2 as well, which I think is out this Friday.

BigBob, lots of people on here will give lists of so many different games to buy, you need to work out kind of games you like interms of Genre etc there are quite a few decent games that have come out and some which are coming out in the near future i.e. MGS 2, GTA 3, Timsplitters 1/2, Pro Evolution Soccer 2, Stuntman, Mafia, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City + some more decent ones

Everyone's gonna say GTA3 but of course the bigger, better(?) sequel will be out soon.

You should get Final Fantasy X though, it's very different to the other two games you have and the next installment won't be out for a very long time.
