First win for us against a spanish team on thier own turf.
And its not as if we fluked it. Could have won that 5-0. Blatent penalty appeal and Giggs really should have had two within a minute.
Deportivo La Coruna...admired by the footballing world for the silky skills and attacking football...but look what happens to them when they see defeat on the horizon...they turn into bloody Leeds United! That tackle by Tristan was a flippin pisstake. Should have been a straight red but the ref probably felt sorry for the sod.
And now we are missing a midfield quartet of Veron, Beckham, scholes and Keane. Thats a flippin world class midfield right there.
Not gonna start looking to the semi-final straight away. Real sticking 3 past us at OT is still fresh in the head. And without Keane...United can look like lost boys without Keane at times...Only hae to look back to the Boro game at OT to see an example of this...
Its gonna be tough...Who knows...Beckhams injury may not be as bad as expected...but he was in a lot of pain :(
anyway...a shocking evening. The result even surprised me. I was thinking a score-draw would be ideal...Beckhams goal was shocking...true class...Tristans tackle was shocking...Keane being carried and then stretchered was shocking...
As ferguson said after the champs league final '99...
"football, bloody hell!"
:)
But with all good things comes a downside. And as we all know, we had 2.
One injury to Beckham, and one to captain Keane.
And what a coinsidence!! They're both the respected captains of the only Brittish sides going to Japan and South Korea this summer!!
And as for our title chances - GONE, as far as i'm concrened.
Arsenal and Liverpool are already ahead, and it's an almost impossible task for us to catch the fortunate gunners (grrrrrrr, damn games in hand!! :( )
And the addition of Keane and Beckham missing for some key MUST WIN games also does us no help!
Ou midfield has been bad enough this season (and our defence), and with the way things are going, we could be lucky to nick 3rd place!!
Ah well, at least we still have Giggs fit and ready! :D
I just hope he doesn't get one of his regular hamstring injuries - like Owen! :S
And now's a better time than any for Juan-Séba to show us all what he is truly capable of!!
His injury cant be THAT bad then. We could really use him for the 2nd leg...
Ye, I didnt know the score when I watched the highlights. Much more exciting when you dont know the score. Thats why I find the Premiership on Saturdays very boring. I dont like it at the late time becasue I never contain myself from finding out the scores. You have to go like 5 hours without finding out...really tough...It was great at the early time...watching Spurs V Man U without knowing the score...bloody superb.
Anyway...I was so happy with the deportivo game that I watched the full game coverage at 2am :) Never gonna get bored at watching that Beckham goal. Beckham is just somthin else...I hope he never leaves United.
Fortunately he was able to walk on his leg, so it's not broken...hopefully.
Damn that had me worried though.
I managed to get to the highlights without knowing the score too!
Though Keane's out, at least Nicky Butt has been in good form lately, so at least we have someone like that.
Great Team..
Great Result..
Bring on Next Week.
Thats all I have to say.
