Players undertake the role of a police detective, investigating a mysterious event in a village. Accompanied by all the usual police work and searchers, you must get to the bottom of the murders, mystery and general mischief in the area - The village of course has a reputation for beong odd. However, things get very strange.........
As you investigate, you uncover more odd goings on - even perhaps spiritual ideas, myths, and ancient dealings. Then, everything goes turnip-shaped. The village, in its little forest on a hill (or whatever) goes BOOM! Of course, all you mateys are killed except a few, and oddly enough a lot of the villagers are alive, hidden in small nooks and crannys. The ruined remains of the village, and surrounding woodland remains still...and the church looks ominously foreboding. Then, the creatures start to appear. Possible zombie like Resi creatures? Nah. Demons! Mysteriously, demons are occuring around. Luckily, they are of course suseptible to bullets, which you nab off a ruined SWAT team, called in to deal with some violent occurence or other. Then, you set off to uncover what in hell is going on (literaly!)
You see, the church has been, well, twisting the rules of the Bible, and creating demons out of the villagers.......slowly turning the village into a harbour, a portal to hell, with which they can cleanse the world of all the 'dirt and filth'.
So. You have to stop the buggers.

The game would be a survival-horror, similar to Resi, but not in the same style. This game would be a free floating 3-D camera, mixing a larger emphasis on conversation and exploration with more gunfights and larger battles - meet up with some SWAT survivors, and recruit them to your exploration - just don't be surprised if they get killed. A free floating camera, in both indoor and outdoor environments, added to a free-roaming exploration idea would mean players would get to pretty much go anywhere in the village, the grounds of the houses, in side the buildings, nad ultimatly, the church and its hideous secrets. Rather than having limitations as to where you can go, I feel that you should be able to go anywhere (within reason) just that certain events are affected by time, nrahter than obstacles, so you could go in building at 7.00pm, and go back at 2.30am and stuff would be different - and perhaps more important events occur at differnt times. A more real world timescale, of other people moving, like a MMORPG, but smaller would I feel, help the sense of horror, as the villagers reveal their true forms, and as the spawn of hell arrive. Music would of course play a huge part in this story - eerie or whatever.
So. Anybody else think this sounds cool?
Soz.

Hmmm. Sounds a little *too* Resi-ish so far.

I like the spiritual side of things, something they never even touched on in Resi. Sounds quite cool so far, devinately a derivative from Resi.

Or just get the hell out of there? Please not another B-Movie game where the characters actually *don't* want to get out of there ASAP and actually go through with their job!? :P

Yay! Free 3-D cam. That was one of my main complaints with the Resi series, but that's a good feature to add there. Well thought out.

Yes. Very. Market it. For all it's bloody worth.
