But having recently downloaded Doom 2 (only 10 Meg!) and playing it for two hours straight, i have come to realise that the old games are still by far the best. They did not suffer such restrictions as 'realism', and as such game designers were free to do anything they liked with them. Nowadays, however, games HAVE to be realistic, they HAVE to have a decent storyline, and they HAVE to have jaw-dropping graphics, but why? What is the point of having those things if the gameplay is crap?
Having said that, if the above mentioned things are included, so much the better. But then, if you added them to a game like Doom then it wouldn't be Doom any more.
Make up your own minds, but i've said what i needed to say on this matter. Thanks for reading (or not, as the case may be).
"Old" games are only good for one thing: nostalgia.
