My grandad used to have a brilliant solution to the problem of having cold feet. He lived in an extremely cold house, which was damp, squalid and poorly insulated against the bitter chill air. He couldn't afford socks so in order to stop his feet from being cold he would lay his hand onto the kitchen table, and then hit a finger with a hammer.
He would be in so much pain that he'd forget about his cold feet completely.
*Please kids do not try this at home, my grandad in this instance is ficticious and also very stupid. He should have used the money from buying the hammer to buy some socks in the first place.*
