I cannot update my website on vip5 at the moment. I'm getting "425 Could not open data connection to port 2777: Connection timed out"

I notice from other recent threads that there are suspected problems with this server. I'll keep trying and hope it will start working again later.

Got it! My other website only works in active mode, so that was my default setting, which did work with Freeola. That seems to have been disabled over the last four days - change it to passive and it works (but my other site doesn't).

Thank you. I downloaded Filezilla and that works OK. I have no idea why my elderly Terrapin FTP whick worked 4 days ago (as it has for the last 3 months on Freeola and 13 years overall) has suddenly given up the ghost. I have changed nothing to my knowledge.

One other question. I noticed this in the login dialog "Response: 230-Your bandwidth usage is restricted". I thought VIP bandwidth was unrestricted (and I can't believe my traffic is in any way problematic).

We're not aware of any problems with VIP5 at the moment. Just checked, and there seem to be people FTPing successfully at the moment. Drop us a support ticket if you continue to have problems.
