Champ manager is one of the most if not most addictive games I have played, well it isn't addictive as you can stop playing when you want - you just don't want too. I have had all but one of the cham manager titles since the 93-94 season game on the Amiga. it was then that I was brought into the world of Champ manager.
Fact: Championship manager will cause people to skip work, uni, school and any other place they should be.
Some of my friends at uni got a free loan of a laptop for first year(two years ago) and the first thing we did was remove all the un-required programs and installed champ manager. We used the laptop for when we were on the bus/train to uni or while they sat in boring lectures.
This is what champ manager is for. :-)
At uni we are not allowed to play games or instal games on the PC's or you get warned then thrown out, but I got sent one of the best e-mails ever, an excel spreadsheet which lets you play a game with the same basic idea as champ manager but with made up players, so you just pretend to be working while playing it.
But as I said before champ manager and exams don't go together, I have friends who didn't study enough or sometimes didn't even turn up to exams because of champ manager. One year champ manager came with the first editor to allow you to edit players. An old school friend of mine and his brother updated every transfer that happened in Europe every week to make sure they were up to date for each new game they played.
I remember playing champ manager 3 for 34 seasons and all the young players of today were managers and coaches and all the players were unknown names, it was weird but still a lot of fun.
I have friends who hate football, can't watch it on television but they own and are waiting to buy champ manager games. Why?
There is something about championship manager games, they are put together so well and allow so much that most football manager games don't have.
I for one can't wait for championship manager 4, but I have exams in january and I know that sometime in january i will be choosing between studying and championship manager, its a tough choice. :-)
Anyone got interesting tales about what championship manager games have made them or friends do?
