A short question for those who know and don't know - which PC speakers are the best out there?

I'm talking about maintaining a good sound with volume, good bass and controls for other audio parts.

I've also gotten use to having a 4 point surround sound system in my room, I'm using two speakers at the moment and it just don't sound right.

Has anyone heard of the DTA G-1401A model?

hehe, its always the obvious ones, I once dismantled my PC, tried three different sound cards, loads of different drivers, the lot. Then discovered the speakers weren't turned on..

Ah well, we all do it I suppose..

Sounds like you've got your speakers plugged into the wrong socket. Have a look on the back, there should be two speaker sockets if its a surround sound card, try plugging into the other one.

Hmmmmm I took a look at the Creative Labs Inspire 5300 5.1 and It's probably the best surround sound thing going but I had an earlier model of them and I kinda blew the little speakers all the time so they just buzzed as I played my music too loud :-S

I totalled up the amount of Watts in the Creative Labs Inspire and it came below 200, yet the two speakers I am using now come upto 240. Does Watt's matter?

I see what you mean about the shooting thing and it would definetly confuse me alot. I mainly use my PC for music but I sometimes play abit of Unreal Tournament etc and other games, so it could be a problem. Will have to sort that out, as the wires going from my left speaker have to be near the PC (on the right) as they are the only place the wires can fit.

Nice bass on these speakers now though, kinda atmospheric.

Oh another prob - I have a Creative soundcard and when i goto audio HQ the speaker setup is on 4 speakers and it shows a picture. When I goto set it to 2 speakers the sound just goes off. Happened with old speakers too. Any help on that?

Thanks all

p.s Smarties eggs aren't that nice :-S

4.1 speakers seem to be a good choice, loads of games are being released with dolby surround sound, also, pretty much every DVD has it, so it might be the best choice. The Audigy card is great, I love it, and it does everything you'd need, might even be worth your time getting a MIDI keyboard and a copy of Cubase VST :D (make your own music) the Audigy card has great MIDI Latency and onboard sounds, The top of the range thingy that fits on the front also looks sweet, but unless your gonna use it, it's not worth having...yeah? check it out, see if you need it.
+ heh, of course
Left speaker on the right
Right speaker on the left will make a difference, playing shooting games would have a huge effect, if someones shooting at you from the right you'd turn the other way... ho ho, Stereo sound kicks tooshie.
If you want good sound and you think your Hi-Fi has good quality, plug your PC into that :)

I use a Sound Blaster Audigy and Creative Labs Inspire 5300 5.1 surround sound. Its excellent sound quality, the subwoofer is fantastic and very big. The top of the range Audigy cards come with either a little drive bay thing that you can plug any audio devices into, or an external box thing that you can plug into. It comes with some excellent little bits of software and generally is great for games, music and DVDs. As for loudness, I've only had them up to 1/3 of full volume and me ears were ringing for the rest of the weekend! I really recommend these or the next set up.
