I got two PC's and a phone cable that can link them together via the modem. Will it work if I want to play a multiplayer game, will I be able to create a link between the two computers??

What you need is a null modem cable. It connects the machines together via the serial ports.

Is that the same as the wire which usually comes out of the back of a modem into the phone socket, but at the end where the phone fitment would normally be, there is another modem fitment. Is that it?

Nope, it has a female serial end (on both ends).

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
