Obviously there has been alot of controversy over this title. So much so that it has split the world in two.

This game is likely to get the award for most hyped game of all time.

It has drawn remarks such as 'Good title but inevitabily doesn't do justice to the MGS name' all the way to 'Worth the wait' and 'Vast improvement on MGS.'

So what do we think?

Personally I think this game was a bust. After reading every game review and playing with the tantalising demo, I couldn't wait for the day to arrive. I rushed into the town center to find many an eager school boy waiting. I ran home so much so that my feet barely touched the floor.
I had completed it in a day and had no amusment in replaying. I saw it as no different to the demo just with different arenas and some varied weapons. I did not share a single tear when I sold it the next day knowing that my demo was far more interesting than the game will ever be.

This is the marmite factor of the world over again? You either love it or you hate it.

Which one are you? Think about it.

But once you've played it through once on any level it os tedious to do it again. Okay so hard is a good level to go with but it doesn't change it in any way. There are no extra rewards for doing it on extreme etc.

Well I for one am glad that this game was released to our generation. It really shows how much games have come on from
from the days of the commodores, atari's etc The realistic pictures, emphasis on the small amount of detail and gameplay is brilliant in this game. Ok people may think it's short, however I dont think so, the re-play value of this game is great because you can play it on different levels and the stakes go up as you play harder levels, you have to be more focused and cunning when playing the harder levels.

I think it was a major success, imagine the the amount of sales they have made from this game? and the amount of enjoyment brought to many people around the world when this game was released? - I think that equals success to hideo, his team and the public - the biggest critics.

I had never played MGS1. Subsequently I thought it was excellent, if a little short. However as a pretty demanding gamer I would expect improvements in the inevitable MGS3 (less cutscenes, longer play time etc)

Personally I thought it was a brilliant game, but i had never before played a metal gear solid game i must admit so i didn't have many expectations apart from that of the hype from everyone else but i thoroughlyenjoyed it although i must admit the game itself was a bit on the short side and there were too many long cut scenes.

It’s both, yes it is a success and a bit of a bust up.

Success: Good stealthy, Graphics and Gameplay are brilliant. The way you can handle guards and people strangle them and put them into a locker steal their ammo. It’s funny how you can get their dog tags.

Bust: They babble on a bit and talk too much (that’s about it) except for that the games to short.

Oh Yeah how many dog tags can you get?

Hard is the median! Gives a challenge but isn't too hard. Especially if you try to do it without using a single ration.

More of a challenge is Extreme which is still possible but very hard. Then once you've done that you can keep yourself happy forever by playing through on an impossible difficulty setting - European Extreme. :-D

But how did they get away with setting almost the entire game on that plant?! It is exactly the same all the way through! At least MGS1 had some variety.
