Fighting = PS2
Racing = PS2 or XBox
FPS = XBox
RPG = PS2 or GC
Puzzle = GC
Do you want to play it safe and know that what you buy is guaranteed support and a has/will get a wealth of games? Then get a PS2.
Do you want the most powerful hardware with a bit of uncertainty about its future, but with some lovely looking games? Then get an XBox.
Do you want a cheap, powerful system to rival the XBox in terms of graphics, which will get everything Mario, and has got Rogue Leader?! Then get a Gamecube.
To be perfectly honest, you won't be disappointed with any of the three you get. If you can only afford one console and want the broadest spectrum of games, I would go for the Gamecube. It is twice as powerful as the PS2, is getting lots of third party support, and is cheap - as are the games for it.
If you can get two consoles, a combination of Gamecube and XBox will give you the best of everything. But, at the end of they day, the decision is yours.
Good luck!
however it is clear to me in comparing the 2 that the X BOX is just a whole lot better, the graphics are better, the sound is better, it just feels a whole lot better.
so in my opinion i wud go 4 the X BOX as it is a better machine (even if GC and PS" sell more it dont mean they r better, just more popular)
well thats my £1.50's worth :-)
It is entirly your choice, depending on what you want.
If you think the PS2 has everything you want, for a price which seems reasonable to you. Get one. The same for the Xbox and PC.
