The song begins with the same repetitive drum beats and guitar riffs, but soon whispering from the singer comes in and he gets louder and louder until all the instruments just blast in one (seemingly) unorganised mess of sound polution. The singing is barely audible, but I can hear something about maggots through the screams, and you can just about make out 'You f'cking touch me and I'll rip you apart'. There's some more screaming before a quieter part in the song with just guitars and drums slowly beaming away. There's yet more 'singing', or screaming, as I call it, before the chorus, with 'My plague' in there somewhere hits. The singer's voice changes to a more tender one, one you'd definately not expect from Corey (sp!?). This chorus repeats a number of times before we start the next verse.
The chorus fades into the guitars and fast drums again, and the singer is screaming again, and I could just about make out, 'Why should I stop it?' and 'I'm a b'stard but at least I admit it'. The chorus repeats again, and by this point (unless you have a head of metal), you're getting very irritated by it.
The chorus fades again into the next verse, with more screaming from Corey and a new guitar riff, with fast drums building up in the background. They get faster and louder until they basically explode and Corey screams some more, before some more guitar riffs are thrown out, making the song sound more like Aerosmith than anything else! Corey says a bunch of profanity as everything speeds up yet again, whilst 'I can't f'ckin take it anymore' is just within the hearing frequency of a dog. Whadyy'a know? It's another chorus! The chorus is slightly changed, with a change in pitch. More screaming from Corey as the closing riffs and beats play, which, funilly enough, are also the opening beats.
'My Plague'
by Slipknot
My opinion is simple: it's a 3 and a half minute scream fest, most of which is swearing or bad language of some sort, accompanied by what I considered to be an actually decent melody. I enjoyed the drums fast beat and the Aerosmith-like guitar riff mid-way. The only thing that spoilt it was the singing. I can bet that they'd have far more fans if their singing sounded like the chorus the entire way through, but we can't let that happen now, can we?
Just as Slipknot said themselves, they're out there to tell you you're ugly, and you're fat. I'm not going to go as far as saying that kids need to hear it like they did, but what are ye gonna do?
Anyway, I hope that the rest of the RE album is better than that. Some Manson in there should be good also, along with Saliva, Adema, Fear Factory, Static X and Rammstein.

The 12 year olds with painted nails and Limp Bizkit T-shirts will be lining up outside shops to get their hands on this.
