Was it the games?
If so, name some that interested you...
Were you originaly a PSone owner?
Was it because all other consoles suck?
Why?
DVD playback also was a pull factor. Didnt have a DVD player so buying a PS2 killed two birds with one stone.
DVD was another reason, i wanted one abd couldnt really afford to buy one at the prices at the time, so what better than to get a PS2 and DVD in one unit.
Also my PS1 was looking a little nackered so it needed replacing, thankufully PS2 was backwards compatable so i didnt need a new one.
New the launch day release of the games wasn't going to be spectacular (just look at the PSx) but knew that in the long run some brilliant games would be released once the programmers got into using the architecture in the best way.
I still think it's a great machine and I know that there are still going to be some amazing games that are going to be released in the next couple of years.
Oh, backward compatability was another good point, plus DVD's but I've not really put either to the test.
the games mainly and it's potential
At £300 it was a bit harsh at the time, but then Sammy no fingers leant me Tonty Hawks skaty bored 3 and things weren't so bad.
Then I got MGS2 as a gift for whacking the boss of a rival gang and everything came up Tarrant!
In short, crime pays. Get sinning. It's easter afterall!
I still want a GC too though, then I'll see who's better.
