So I grabbed the Warrior Kings disk, stck that into the drive and found the same thing...
Which is kinda fair enough...
Its just, I was wondering...
Were did all the crappy extras go...
Way back when, when you picked up a Lucasarts CD-ROM, you were guarenteed a demo or two of their other recent/upcoming releases... maybe a rolling demo or two for good measure...
And it seemed to be a pretty standard addition by most of the larger distributers ...EA, Activision, etc... those with a big enough back catalogue, to do the same...
Even when their game releases were running a little dry, you tended to get a demo of an old game, or just some naff novelty...
There has been the odd exception, the rolling deoms for Black Isles other titles in Planescape... the chessy Euro-pop tracks in No-One Lives forever, it seemed they had dies an advertising death...
And although I was never really a fan, and although they were only ever there for advertising, and although they really were very naff, I kinda miss them, they added something a little extra...
I seem to remember hearing that some PS2 disks came with a few add-ons... a making of the game video, advertising for other releases (are they just Lucasarts titles?)... Which while all being a bit naff, and whist all being just corporate junk, and whilst being a little unfortunate that they advertise it as a valid addition to the package, rather than something they just stuck in becuaee it was there and free, I think its kinda funky that while they arnt making a comeback, that they are still around...
Although, I cant help thinking that it would be nice if they started it up again... maybe extras inspired by those on DVD (although I cant imagine the writer/actor/directors commentory would be that exciting) ... maybe they could stick in an old abandonware/shareware title (give the original Sonic away as an extra on the latest Sonic title?)
Who knows, with a little imagination, and a little lust for cash, maybe the bumpf will be back?
