Many First Person Shooter gun games are to appear on the Gamecube in the next year or so, a few are on the Gamecube at the moment, but the majority are coming soon.
The FPS on the Gamecube are as follows

007 Agent Under Fire.
Goldeneyes reputation as one of the Best shooter of all time is not touched by this average effort by EA games, there are boring guns, but better levels, the enemies are stupid, The driving levels are quite good, there are three difficulty levels to choose from, Jamnes Bond agent under fire is filled with beautiful women, especially in a scene where a woman is shown with her chest area going up and down, there is nothing new to the genre in this game, Bond goes from Hong Kong to Romania, the South China Sea and Switzerland, the not exact original story has an evil corporation bent on World domination via an army of clones.
The Multiplayer modes in 007 AuF are Designed as mini missions that take place across multiple levels. Combat training for an example can take place
in a town, a manor or a castle or other among other locales. most of the games characters and enemies are available to the multiplayer mode including bond, Exclusive to the Gamecube is a CPU controlled bots, which can be configured for agression and intelligence.
A good buy If you are a fan of the bond games, but there isn't anything new, there are better options.

Turok Evolution
If you want graphic violence this is one for you, Blood squirts from every angle, a preguel to the original Turok, Evolution sees Native American Tal' Set fall into the lost land in pursuit of Captain Bruckner, Tal' Set is then thrown into conflict with the Dinosoid Slegs, who wish to conquer the lost land, and assumes the Mantle of Turok,
The opening levels are decent, but the ending levels sre poor and offer little variety, Halo is all over Turok Evolution with giant guns and horrific death scenes,, most levels are full of action which you just waste time battling one Sleg after an other, there is a Stealth level though (Infiltration) but this can be done by shooting your way through all the enemies, could be a great game but lacks polish, the frame rate is chunky.
The frame rate in multiplayer levels is smoother, the multiplayer is actually quite good, it is only you against 1-3 players though, the levels are new and not taken from the game, there is plenty of modes including Monkey Tag and Blood Bath, the Flying levels in the one player game aren't bad its just they're not exciting.
A good buy, but not one for a seasoned player of the genre, one for the all action shooter fan.

In the Future

Timesplitters 2
November

This game is a must Buy, Free Radical deserves a round of applause, Goldeneyes Grandson, this game has passed expectations improving on every aspect of the Original Timesplitters(on PS2), It takes the Time travelling premise of Timesplitters,,This game offers a meatier Single player, you take control of one of two marines. After chasing the Timesplitters to their station in the far reaches of space. the splitters jump into time crystals and split up into different points in time and space, Its up to you to retrieve the crystals, The ten levels are linear, and do not offer much exploration.
Theres plenty available that sets this apart from the competition so far on the Gamecube, the Multi Player and the lasting appeal do this game the most justice, there are challenges galore including Glass smash and Banana chomp, The Guns are appropriate to the time of the story. There is also a brilliant Map Maker and a two player co operative mode, This is the best multiplayer game available now or in the future ( the announced future), Everything is customisable from the weapons to the skill of the CPU, unlike Turok the Frame rate rarely jars.
The Super Smash Bros Melee of the FPS, " Outstanding ".

Medal of Honor Frontline

A great game from EA, The PS2 game of the year for 2002, all the PS2 owners have raved about this for months, But now its on Cube with added Multiplayer extras, this game is outstanding having played this on a friends PS2, you play as Lt Jimmy Patterson from the landing on D-day, a very realistic game from WW II which borrows heavily from Saving Private Ryan which is not a bad thing, Its a wonder to see what the Multiplayer levels and options will be like in Medal of Honor Frontline, The Single player is great and is the best WW II experience available, The guns are of WW II nature including a Bazooka and a Sniper Rifle, you have allies to aid you in most levels, This Game is a Must Buy for a complete World War Two experience, I would buy this for the opening level alone which is the landing at D-Day.

Die Hard Vendetta
Yipie Kay-yay, John McClane is back in the action in a game set five years after Die Hard with a Vengeance and revolves around Police officer John McClane whom while on a routine Investigation stumbles across a gang which are more able and organised than your local gang of Street Punks. Ffrom here the story explodes with action involving art theft, International terrorism and the kidnapping of Johns Daughter Lucy, expect plenty of blood and an assured rating when the game is released, the game has three difficulty levels to try : Die Hard, Die Hard and Die Hardest, you can choose between action(go in all guns blazing) and stealth(enemies don't pay much attention allowing you to sneak around) The inclusion of a shadow meter which detects if enemies are close is new, It is divide into four parts,If there is no enemy in the area it is grey, If there is it turns purple, It also indicates If you have been seen, and turns from yellow to red depending on how much danger you are in. the levels are inventive and different, levels include a Prison level and a Police level in which you have to stop a raid on a Police station, there is no indication of a multiplayer as yet but, I hope there will be, another good purchase and it could be excellent.

007 Nightfire

Bond is back, In an entirely new story inspired by many of the James Bond Films, It is Bond versus Rafael Drake whose business of decomminising nuclear weapons hides a plot to build nuclear weapons of his own which will not be for a passion wagon. there are nine game worlds including a massive austrian castle and downtown Tokyo, Borrows a lot from Agent Under Fire but then Improves on It, with driving levels through Tokyo, and now for the women, Zoe Nightshade once again accompanies Bond with her skills and driving style aswell as a new Australian MI6 operative Alura McCall who is witty and is full of weapon Information, There is 10 Q gadgets in the game including a Q Jet which is a back mounted Jet pack. you will have to read reviews soon to tell you If this is better than Goldeneye which I doubt It will be, there is scarce Information on Multiplayer which should be like AuF with a few extra options, the camera changes to 3rd Person Perspective when bond has to walk across perilous walkways, a good buy if you are a fan of the Bond games, The majority will have to see If it is any good through reviews.

Metroid Prime
can't wait for this one, this is the most anticipated FPS on the Cube at the Moment, this looks class and boasts better graphics than Halo, I said It HALO!!!!!, This offers much more to the FPS genre than any other Game with a mix of exploration and action and a scanning device, you can also roll into a ball to acess new areas through tunnels, this title is the only FPS which links up to the GameBoy Advance, but no one out of Retro Studios amd Nintendo knows any information on this matter except that it will happen, Samus (the main Character) glows red when she changes weapon, maybe she can pick up add ons to her suit, I hope this will be true because If It isn't all the weapons will be available from the start, there is also a double jump feature which should be remnisent of the Samus Double jump move from Super Smash Bros Melee. but of a 1st person view. Metroid Prime on Gamecube will feature a dazzling array of weapons and enemies. Samus has to overcome the threat of the Metroid Once again, there is a big surprise or change in plot at the end, all the enemies I have seen are aliens but It would be nice If some were human,
A superb title which could surprise many, Interesting to see If it will be the Best Cube game and overtake Super Mario Sunshine, But that will only be Until the Legend of Zelda comes along.

The Sum of all fears

Based on the movie starring Ben Affleck, The Sum of all fears puts you In charge of an FBI hostage rescue team on a mission to stop a madd man from exploding a nuclear device at the Superbowl, This is a very stealthy FPS, one hit youre injured and two hits you're dead, all the action takes place in real time so if you have to reload then you'll have to make sure that youre well hidden, this also applies to unlocking doors and changing weapons, defusing bombs and accessing computers. whenever you try a task there will be a timer on screen and you must wait for the job to be done before you move on, this game follows the Raimbow Six/Tom Clancy style of game which helped create the stealth genre.

I would buy Metroid Prime firts and foremost for the style and sheer quality of the game, The Sum of all fears would be most suited for someone who wants a stealth FPS, Timesplitters 2 for a Multiplayer FPS, Medal of Honor Frontline for a definite WW II experience, Die Hard Vendetta for an action FPS.

The Choice is yours!!.

Rainbow Six was great, and got fantastic reviews on PC. It was the first of it's kind really, and it looked much the worse for being on the N64, and I doubt they would have ported the gameplay properly.

I never played Rainbow Six, but Ghost Recon, though sometimes fun, was a bit crap. I hope they don't the same A.I. from this game in the new rainbow six title Raven Sheild, that looks quite good.

Too true I'm afraid. I bought Ghost Recon because I liked the demo, the full game however, though good looking and sometimes fun, fails simply because of it's A.I.

I use that word in the loosest sense possible however, because I don't remember once seeing any of the NPCs in game, bad guy's or otherwise display the kind of intellegence available in other shooters out today.

It gets even worse when you're on stealth missions, tell you're men to hold fire so you can sneak around and they'll ignore you, shooting the entire level up. Annyoing, and makes the game feel more like an arcade shoot em up than the tactical shooter it's been hyped to be. Avoid.

System Shock 2 Sibs? I can make you a copy and send it to you if you like.

I'm not even going to look at Sum of All Fears, all Tom Clancy games are crap.
