Because its a game that works on PS2 and GC. So they can have the maps being made too big, other wise they wouldnt work on the PS2 or GC. Plus the map needs to be run and stored into RAM. The levels you make wouldnt be like the other main levels in which they are either loaded in from the disc or the hard disk. If the game was specially made for the XBox then the map maker may use the XBox hard disk as a buffer, but as its a multi-format game they wouldnt have bothered with this.
Oh god I can['t wait for this game to be released next Friday, on Gamecube that is.
