My birthday is November 2nd (15 HURRAY!) And I want to buy an X-Box with all my money. The only problem is I need the DVD remote control and memory card aswell. This leaves very few funds left for games. can anyone help me out?
I am the only person round my group of friends who has an xbox :( but I love it to bits
heh, same here. I get weekly calls saying, "Erm, hi, er, what are you doing this weekend? I'll get you round, wait, I can't for, er, some reason, why don't I come round yours so I can play Halo again?"
Heh, it cracks me up everytime. :D
Make sure you get Halo, Hitman 2, Max Payne, Dead or Alive 3 and Project Gotham Racing as definate purchases. Once you have these games then check out RalliSport Challenge, Amped, Jet Set Radio Future and Silent Hill 2 as they are also superb games. With the release list looking as good as it does I have shortened it to games which are a necessity on the lead up to Christmas. The games I have planned through November/December are:
Splinter Cell
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
Medal of Honour Frontline
House of Dead 3
Fifa 2003
James Bond 007: NightFire
I have found it easier to make a short-list of games which I really want and leave the others in-case I can afford them :)
You get points for how stylishly you drive (handbreak turns, overtaking people etc). You have different challenges to complete such as overtaking a set number of cars in the time limit, or beating an average speed for a set number of laps.
You race around real cities. Bits of London, Tokyo, New York and San Francisco have been mapped into the game, so you get to drive past Houses of Parliament and places you actually recgonise.
Also, the game is huge. Complete the main mode takes ages, going back and getting gold medals on each one takes even longer. Then there's the medal pursuit mode, time attack mode and multiplayer to keep you going as well.
IF you like driving games, get this. Simple as that.
I've actually been talking to a few blokes at work about the X-Box and now they're saving their cash to go and buy one. ;-))
If not, then don't worry about a memory card for now - put one on your Christmas list and concentrate on getting an extra game instead. :-)
Do you have broadband ? If so then you might want an X-Box Live christmas. ;-) Ask for the X-Box Live package, Unreal Championship and Mech Assault. ;-)
Heres a few games sorted by catagory that you should consider when starting out (in my opinion anyway).
Shooters...
Halo
Timesplitters 2
Platform...
Jet Set Radio Future
Blinx The Timesweeper
Fighting...
Dead Or Alive 3
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Driving...
Project Gothem Racing
Quantum Redshift
Sports...
Dead Or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball
Madden NFL 2003
Fifa 2003
I've rounded them up as titles for you to consider as they all offer plenty to do. Afterall when you're starting out and have few games, you want some that have plenty of longevity so you don't simply complete everything in a weekend. :-)
If you don't have a particular favourite genre, then these are the 3 games I recommend you start with to keep you busy...
Halo
Project Gothem Racing
Jet Set Radio Future
Dead Or Alive would also be a great choice because although getting all the endings up isn't something that takes ages, getting the costumes for all the characters will take a long time. ;-)
Plus as far as showing off what your new console can do goes, DOA 3 is a great title for that too. :-)
Jet Set Radio Future - Highly addicitve platform adventure
Project Gotham Racing - Graphics are amazing, look at replay mode!
Dead or Alive 3 - Woah! Beat em up of the year for sure.
Oddworld Munches Oddysee - Love it, its in 3D oddvision!
They are the launch games you should consider getting before the rush of EXCELLENT xbox games arrive :P
Maybe consider Hitman 2, Buffy, Silent Hill 2, Splinter Cell, Blinx Timesweeper, Timesplitters 2....
