My view on life.
Right, for a start I feel that people should enjoy life. You only live it once, so make the most of it. Why waste time worrying about things that don't matter?
Does it really matter why we're here? Does it really matter if there is a God or not?
Not really. At least in my view. If you believe in God, fine, no problems. But if you're unsure, why waste time thinking about it? By the time you find out for real, you'll be dead. So the knowledge won't do you any good anyway.
Why waste time worrying about what people think of you? I know that most of you who post on here are at school or college, and if you're not in with the "in" crowd, you can sometimes feel like a failure. Not true.
No one is going to get on with every single person they ever meet. So why waste time worrying about it? You have your family, you have your mates, so don't worry about anything else.
It's much better to have a small group of proper friends that you can really rely on, than have a big group of people who couldn't really give a toss.
So what is the aim in life? To live it your own way. It's your life, so you do what you want. Other people have no right to tell you what to do.
That's not to say I never listened to my parents. Parents have a lifetime of experiences to call up, to help you out. That's not say you should do what they say. But you should take their advice on board. Listen to their experiences, as it may help you make the right decision.
There's nothing pathetic or embarassing about asking for advice every now and again. You don't have to do what they say. But easier to make the right decision the more information you have.
Now, you may have realised by now that I'm not religious. So what is my aim in life? Well, to try and do as many things as possible. I know I've said it before, but it seems to fit here. Life is like a piece of graph paper. Everytime you do something new, a square gets filled in. My aim is to fill in as many sqaures as possible before I die.
Pretty simple, eh?
Anyway, I feel I'm rambling now, with no real direction to what I'm writing. So I'll stop.
Hope it makes some sort of sense to someone...
Life as it stands, has no purpose. There is no greater power, no greater plan about it.
But I think as humans and as we live our lives, we create our own purpose. Our own individual meaning of life.
Perhaps, if you're a caring person, your meaning of life becomes to care for others and help them. If you're someone who quests for knowledge, then your meaning of life is to find that.
If it's something you feel makes your life complete and whole and not feel wasted, then that's you meaning of life.
I don't think I have one yet, I haven't lived enough to find one, at least not for certain. All I know at the moment is I don't want to be stuck in the same routine all my life. I want to experience new things, do new things and travel. But although I don't know what life means at the moment, I enjoy it.
I'm saying you don't have to do what they say. But DON'T ignore them.
The more views/opinions you have on something, the easier it will be to make your decision.
YH tip of the day: If it feels like you're making the wrong decision, you probably are.
That phrase just made me think... teachers, schools etc. are always going on about how you should never give in to peer pressure and do something you don't want to, but then they punish you if you don't conform to their rules and ways of thinking. For our English exam we have been told that when you do a practical criticism of a poem, or write about an extract you can't say you didn't like it or it wasn't very good or you'll just get bad marks (even if you do back up your opinion). Now isn't that just like peer pressure? You are being forced to do something you don't want to- ie. in the exam you are having to lie in order to achieve better marks. Ah well. School seems more and more fun every day doesn't it? Hell, I'm on holiday now, so I should be saving the complaining for Summer (GCSE exams you see).
> Life is like a piece of graph paper.
God dammit! Forrest Gump lied!
However sometimes, things do pull you back from enjoying life.
Just sit back relax and have a drink.
Ah

Hehe, you know my views on this topic.

I usually fail at this, but my "Stronger" post proves that I'm improving, thankfully.

Very true, but sometimes even me inner circle of friends don't give a toss. But true anyway.

Damn right. If I wanna stay in all day rather than go hang around shops buying nothing, then that's what I'll do.

Yeah, parents rule. {:)

Yeah, I ask them for advice sometimes. Bur only about "appropriate things". {:)

Yep, as long as you don't kil yourself while doing those things. {:)
That would be my only worry. I don't plan on doing anything ludicrously dangerous, because it could end my life before I've done a lot of other stuff I want to do. But still, I'd probably do a bungie jump. I don't want to use a parachute though, heard a story about one of them the other day...
Anyway, nicely done YH, and I hope you don't mind me breaking up your post to write my pointless thoughts.
