The heads of all the gaming fan-boys in the world. Sure, arguments over which of the Mario Brothers have the best contraption fixed to the back of their... well, back, is all well and good... for a laugh. But the fact that two people, who were otherwise friends, albeit internet ones, can fall out because they disagree on who the best games-maker is, is really quite sad.
I am firstly a games player, and while i've yet to see anything that warrants me to fork out the £160 for an X-Box the day WILL come. Regardless of the jokes, the size, the manufacturer and the Green, there will be an X-Box in my bedroom on the day Panzer Dragoon Orta is released if not before.
You see, if you're a Nintendo fan-boy, you tend to look upon Sony, or more-so Microsoft with sheer disgrace. "Why can't they stick to the PC market?!" You might say. Well, if that rule were applied to all areas of industry Nintendo would still be making playing cards, and you wouldn't be able to go your £47-a-month Virgin gym to stare at the well-endowed, 5'5 brunette with blue eyes and snow white teeth, because Richard Branson and his boardroom full of cherries, would still be looking at ways of improving the Package Tour Holiday. Added to which, owners of the Commodore 64 and the Atari ST, probably feel the same way towards Nintendo as Ninties to towards X-Box fans... At least they did until their C64 blew up and they bought a Cube! :)
(Cough)
Anyway, nowadays having all the three systems will soon be a necessity. Why? Simply because Zelda, Metroid Prime, Panzer Dragoon Orta and GTA Vice City won't be available on just one console. Sure, money doesn't grow on trees (at least not in my world), and picking one of the three consoles isn't too hard, once you figure out which games you want most; but for true games-players, who REALLY appreciate good games AND can afford to finance their primary hobby comfortably, There should be a PS2, GameCube AND X-Box sitting below the TV not too long after Christmas.
I you might say that if you can finance anything you should end up with a country house, a swimming pool and a 575M Maranello; but i'm talking specificaly about games here.
So, Halo is a good game, and probably still the best the X-Box has to offer and some might say that it, along with the rest of the launch games would warrant a purchase, but not for me. I'm happy with Timesplitters 2!
Anyway, I'm drifting. I don't know how we started talking about Ferraris! The main message, is that nothing good can come of bias, I know. I was the most bias person on here in my day. Slating PS2 for all I could an praising the N64, purely because it was the only remotely new console I owned! I eventually broke the curse with a PS2, and have been rewarded with, amongst others; GT3, GTA3, Pro Evo and Timesplitters 2, Not to mention Tiger Woods 2002, Fantavision, Jak and Daxter and a handful of the EA BIG games.
If you can, get as many consoles and games as you can, just so you can play through as many games as you can. If I was still a Nintendo Fan-Boy, I'd be replaying through Banjo-Kazooie for the 21st time, and Jinjo's make me cry.
And remember, too much TimeSplitters 2 makes your eyes bleed!
