There have been many great Sim /God games produced over the past few years but where are the political Sim games. The closest I've seen to a political game is the Civilisation series.

With everyday that passes there rarely seems to be a moment when a new political scandal is about to break. Be it the recent fuel crisis, genetically modified food, arms deals to Nigeria, or an MP found in unfavourable circumstances on Clapham common! So with all this action, surely the question must be asked, "Where are the Political Sim Games?"
The Fun would be endless, first you'd choose a Country and a difficulty setting, the easier the difficulty the more funds you'd have for your election campaign. Then you'd be right in the action, money could be invested in Terrorist groups - to intimidate your opponents, Sleaze merchants - to dig the dirt, or alternatively you could invest the money on advertising and try to get yourself elected on merit! Once in power you'd have to make sure you totally ripped off the public, without them realising. You'd be rewarded for selling weapons to countries with appalling human rights, being unfaithful, and getting backhanders off Nuclear Power companies - so they can get planning permission to build a plant next to that playground. The balance of power however would be a fragile one, too much corruption and you may get found out, too little and opposition parties will do the deal with the Sun that will cost you the next election!
Perhaps the game could even be played online, each competitor ruling their own country.
For now I'm content with such great games as Civilization and Populus, however political power is quite appealing.
