As a 'back-page exclusive', The Mirror had reported that Kevin Keegan plans to bring giant Lazio and Holland defender Jaap Stam back to Manchester with City!! United's (Stam's former club) closest rivals!
I don't believe a word of it! And even if it was true he'd still say no to a Div.1 side, even if they do have the chance of promotion this season.
Apparently he's offering £10m as the initial fee - around £7m less than Lazio signed him from United for at the start of the season.
Ok, so maybe they could afford the transfer fee, but surely they cannot afford his wages! Even if the great George Weah was once in their books! I have no idea what Stam's on now, but he'd surely be demanding £60k per week easily! Which is something the average first division club simply CANNOT afford!
I think this is all complete rubbish, and I also don't seem to have seen it reported by anyone else.
But if it is true, then surely Keegan himself knows he has no chance of getting the man he 'wants'!
The only reason he'd be doing something as ludicrous as this would be to play the famous mind-games with 'the master' Sir Alex Ferguson. But why??? Maybe it's in hope of a meeting between the 2 local sides sometime next season.
Anyway, that's enough from me, what do you think about it???
Did you even hear about it!??
Also when Stam moved from Utd, he said that he loved Man U but he hated what Fergie had done. He has no problem with Man U but he doesn't want to go back to while Fergie is manager.
But i did read on teamtalk i think or sports.com that Stam was interested in moving back to England. Spurs are currently favourites to sign Stam, and Glenn is very interested in signing him.
They are desperate for money and would sell to anyone willing to pay the right price, even if Lazio would loose a £7m profit. But it's the player's descision as to wether the deal gets completed or not. He'd say no if he really was a United fan during his time at Old Trafford!
And if it comes true, I will sit there at Old Trafford on the opening day of next season, and eat my zip-neck shirt with STAM and 6 on the back!!
> did you happen to read this in a strange paper called the sun?.............
I think you'll find he said he read it in the Mirror
