It’s so good that it has revived my dwindling love of gaming.
The game has pure gameplay- any success or failure is due to the player’s skill.
So, what is this amazing game that I’m ranting on about? Well, it’s Metal Gear Solid 2. Or more precisely, the European Extreme mode of the game.
You see, when I first played the game under the normal setting I was quite pleased. Good graphics, nice controls and a decent plot. But certainly not the tactical espionage game the cover promises- you can quite happily be seen by the enemy time and time again, and even get shot a few times on the way. You can run through some of the tougher parts of the game, eating rations every few steps.
All such advantage is lost in European Extreme mode. You can’t afford to be seen by the enemy, nor can you rely on rations to allow you to escape- just a few shots and you die. Tactics are finally a requirement- not an option. Routes through levels have to be thought out in advance and you can’t afford to fumble about with guns. Rarely has such gameplay been seen since the days of the Playstation’s arrival.
Perhaps this really is the “game of the year”

I think its around the 10 figure mark

Heh! I hadn`t thought of that! Probably all of them, and I doubt theres much of a break to fit in a double stinger combo either!
As for the FPS part against that onslaught of guards, I really can`t add any more than Solidus Snake did. I`m assuming there's no way to get any stun grenades or anything, so it`ll certainly be a challenge to stay alive.
It won`t be for a while probably, but if I ever get there, I`ll let you know any ideas. Sorry I can`t be more help!

Try and peek around the corner of the box while pressed up against it and shoot from there.
