When hang on and space invaders were king. Well just think about those games in a moral context for a bit and you will see what I mean by this post.
When you were in the arcades of yester-year did you ever have a morality shocker while killing all those aliens? I think not. Another example of this, and a more "modern" classic (I use this term loosely) shinobi on master system. When you kill those ninja's did you ever stop to think, What about his family? what would his kids say if their father came home in a black bag?
I know this post is daft and its just me taking things too seriously. But have you noticed that the more modern games are taking morality too seriously? Silent Hill 2 for example is all about a mans guilt!
Has the modern games player actually matured? Or have we in fact gone more sinister with the realistic graphics? Hands up who has laughed their heads off when you beat an old lady to death with a baseball bat on GTA3 and then killed the ambulance drivers afterwards. I know I have.
Their is a plus side to this graphical revolution. Gamers exspect more from their games so when in the old days they used to count into the thousands how many aliens they killed on Space Invaders, now we just get bored after a while and have something it once in while. GOOD FOR ALL THE NATION I SAY!
Thanks for reading :) Enjoy
P.S I am not employed/ got a gun to my head by the daily mail/parents around the world ;)
