Many a time have I told myself I am going to give up gaming and do something better with my life. Many of you probably have told that to yourselves aswell, or just simply gone off games altogether. But I'm sure, with time, you've come back to it in the end.
You see, I gave up a few months back. I never told myself I had given up it just happened naturally. I just didn't have the urge to play anymore. And why? Well, I'm not to sure, there wasn't really anything else taking up my time, I was just living like I usually did, day in - day out. Yet playing games never really appealed to me anymore, there was no games I could really get stuck into and enjoy, my friends weren't big fans of playing games and so the whole social part of gaming wasn't there. Playing just seemed too child-like and I now saw myself not as a child but as a young adult instead, I thought I was being more 'grown-up'.
It wasn't true. By not playing games I was feeling pretty down compared to what I usually am, I just wasn't feeling like 'me'.
Throughout this time I stopped posting on these forums. Sure, I would come and read some topics sometimes but I just didn't post. It was like I didn't want to be part of the gaming scene, yet in another sense I did.
The reason I did was simple. I knew the world of gaming was an exciting place which would keep me interested whilst having fun at the same time. I knew gaming would help keep my stress levels low and help me get through the stage of life I was at, calm me down for my GCSE's and so forth. So I told myself that and the next day I started posting here again and I started playing my games and tried to get stuck in.
It worked, and here I am today telling you not to stop playing games. Some of you may see it as 'un-cool' or 'geeky'. Well actually, no, it's not. Everyone play's games in their life and there's a reason for it. Quitting is one of the most stupid things you can do, like me you'd be throwing away a hobby which will probably last a lifetime.
You try and quit smoking because smoking is bad for you, it's proven. People try and prove games are bad for you by all this stereotyping and over the top news stories but it's not true. Gaming is good for you, infact let me enhance on that, it's VERY good for you.
Right now I'm enjoying games more then ever. I showed my mates the new games I have for multiplayer and they love them. With social gaming being a key to why I am enjoying games so much I feel happy. I still have my Dad on my back telling me I'm like a child playing computer games but I don't care. Sometimes my eight year old cousin comes round and plays some multiplayer with me. When that happens I feel like a child again and I think I'm right in saying that those were the good times, right? The fun times when you didn't have to worry or anything.
If you're going through the quitting stage right now...think again, you'll just coming running back sooner or later.
Happy gaming :-)
Anyway, I was relating smoking to gaming as it is addictive, as was said, though I forgot to point that out. I think there are many other ways which you can relate gaming with and most of them are bad things. But on the whole gaming's good :-D
Stick with it.
> Gaming doesn't give you lung cancer though.:)
It gave me glasses instead, bleedin screen.
To all children
If you dont want glasses at least watch the tele about 5 or more inches otherwise it is possible to get bad sight.

dont think ya talikng to me ;)
> at least games are addictive,
So is smoking! Smoking is a drug which gets you hooked due to the Nicotene, hopefully I will never be tempted to smoke a cigarette.
>fun,
Some teenage smokers may say the same as they run away from a lot of teachers carrying a pack of cigarettes ;)
>and dont make you smell.
They do if you sit there playing them for long enough ;) Damn why is Halo so good!?
>rather than smoking that does.
Indeed it does and smoking is a very bad habbit, I hate it when my brother smokes near me!
Good post by the way MWA!
