Now listen, I too when first looking at the GameCube I too thought "My God, Miyamoto and Yamauchi have flipped!" but the I read a little more, thought a little more and looked a little harder. When I took the small effort to do these things I saw what Nintendo wants us to see. The GameCube will be good, It IS good. Why are people basing all their opinions on the name and the looks alone? I'm not saying it will appeal to everyone and everything in the whole universe like fans on the playstation2 are saying but I am simply stating that it will hardly be bad will it? Why would Nintendo pump so much money and time into it if it were rubbish? Nintendo also said that not all the functions and hardware was on show because they are fed up of other companies stealing Nintendo’s Ideas, and quite frankly I don't blame them since Sony has no imagination and originality in the whole of its company. Also, I think these people who are doubting the GameCube should have a little look at the screenshots, movies and list of companies which are developing for GameCube, once they have done this I don't think they can really be upset all that much, I want to play it, you want to play it, so just play it.
The other thing I want to do is say well done to Nintendo with this great little gem and if people are STILL crying about the shape or whatever, DON'T BUY ONE, but I am, I believe in the greatest games company ever - Nintendo.

Drop Mario, I very much doubt it...

On the other topic you raised, it is now looking likely that MGS2 will be appearing in some form on the GC. Apparently, GBColor MGS allows for some sort of connection to a console. (And I don't think Nintendo will allow for a GB to PS2 link!).

Slowly and surely, Nintendo are beginning to lure back the major developers will left for the PSX.

Capcom has already released Resi 2 for N64, and will soon release MegaMan. All that's left is Resi Zero for GC, and hopefully, Streetfighter.

Regarding Square; now that the GC will use 'mini-DVDs, there'll be plenty of space for Square to do their 'fancy FMVs'. So there's now no reason for them to ignore Nintendo once again.

I totally agree with you , the game cube is after some thought pretty neat. But I personally think that instaed of worrying about the shape of the consoles Nintendo should think more about the games that should be on it like maybe just maybe MGS2 to get the hard-core gamers in the Nintendo corner, I have nothing against Mario game sbut come on Nintendo try to be a little more orginal than Mario Party,Mario kart and Mario tennis.Try to may up new characers and (sadly) leave the Mario family behind in the next-generation. One think that nintendo have done is that they have a very strong grip on rae for superhits like goldeneye and perfect dark.
Ps. If gamecube gets square to make final fantasy series, than they have already hit a home-run!
