I was checkin out some PS 2 Sites when I came across something which shocked me:

"Man Killed Playing PlayStation"
The Register is reporting that an Australian man has been electrocuted while playing Playstation in the boat's wheelhouse. Apparently, 19 year old Richard Wells was sitting at a metal table playing the game, when a huge wave broke through the cabin window and electrocuted him. Three of the crew mates suffered shocks and burns while trying to rescue Wells from the cabin.
About 10 years ago there was a similar story, where someone was seriously hurt by lightning while playing one of the 16-bit systems. Hardly believable, but true.

I heard one about 10 years ago a bit different to your one, it was featured on the CITV program Bad Influence a kid was playing on his console for about 12hours non-stop and then he stopped and went to get something and collapsed down dead, they reckon it was some sort of hemirege caused from playing on the console to much.
