Game Idea:

You know the Fifth Element, with all that big city, and flying cars and all that? Well, here is my idea based around that and some other concepts (namely GTA3/Mafia)

Background:

The city is a huge towering load of huge buildings, reaching far up into the sky. Although on the ground, there are people still living comfortably, the poorer people are squashed into the middle sections of the towers (of which there are loads). There are also far reaching walkways spread all over the city, along with the infamous hover cars, thousands of them, flying around, up, down, all around. Hover boards also allow people to get around, but they are quite unsafe.

Story:

You play as either a male or female protagonist, who one day, becomes involved in a small street scuffle (namely a hover pavement somewhere) The attacker escapes, leaving a badly wounded man behind. You take them back to your ‘apartment’ and care for them. However, it is too late to save him. He is dying, and before he does, he gives you one condition: Kill the people that did this to him. Oddly enough, you feel as though you have no choice, so therefore you set off to the name he gave you, and become embroiled in a coup d’etat, which wants eventually, to take over the skyscraper dystopia, and you will help it happen.

Gameplay:

Now is the real meat. In a similar style to GTAIII, you can steal cars that are flying about, simply by getting up to them when they are parked, or on your hover board. Then, you can fly these cars all over the place. Of course, as the story develops, other people will help you, making it seem more like an action game, with your allies attacking police stations, government towers and personnel. A more real feel is there too. Police cars can whiz by you, off to some other crime – you are not the only criminal/rebel in the city. You play the game through various missions, which you get by meeting people, or getting messages through your computer in the car.

You live in a single place, where your car/s are stored (similar to Mafia). You then go out and about, doing missions etc. Weaponry, from assault rifles to plasma cannons, can be fitted on to your car, or you can carry them, so there is an element of mindless carnage available, but the game is more story driven than GTA3 – you want to get rid of the oppressive government (which you can see examples of, from beatings, to pointless ‘fun’ chases, chasing some innocent person down to the ground and killing them).

Of course, with a more allied/enemy feel, a reputation system is in place. Do more damage to Govt. buildings, and you will become a higher status person in the rebel underworld. Of course, it also makes you more likely to be attacked by officials.

And that’s about it. Got any more ideas to add to that?
