So I want recommendations from you lot. Already on my list are:
Pi, Battle Royale, The DeerHunter.
I really liked Pi, so any other films by the same Director would be cool, but I don't know if he's done any more, names please.
Also, Robert De Niro films, the man is a class actor so suggest any films with him in it. I already have Goodfellas, Casino, Mean Streets and Raging Bull, but any others would be appriciated.
And any other films that you think are great that need to be added to my collection.
Cheers.
If you like Requiem for a Dream then go fo Last Exit to Brooklyn.. It's based on another book by Hubert Selby and so it's similar thematically, thought I imagine Requiem is better directed. Darren Aronofsky, Pi and Requiem Director, has only released two films but he has a third which looks really cool even if it's unavailable from anywhere, and he's working on a new sci-fi film starring Brad Pitt, and he's also doing the next Batman film, which will bring it back to Burton standards of geniusness.
"Heathers" is out in HMV for £9.99 on DVD at the moment, that rules.. and also HMV seem to have stuck it in their clearance section for £6.99 too.
"Chopper" is a brilliant film about a psychotic Aussie criminal called Mark 'Chopper' Read. Read's played by Eric Bana who's set to take the role of Bruce Bannister in the forthcoming Hulk movie, and he's genuinely funny. The real Chopper cut his ears off to get out of prison, and that's the general level of madness in the film.
"Harry, He's here to help" is the French equivalent of the first act of Sexy Beast. It's a psychological drama about a.. nah, I can't summarise it. This is what a online DVD vendor says:
"When Michel (Laurent Lucas) bumps into old school acquaintance Harry (Sergi Lopez) en route to his summer holiday with his young family he thinks nothing of it. But when Harry buys Michel a brand new jeep to replace his broken down car and invites himself to the family's remote holiday home, Michel begins to suspect that all is not as it should be. Before long, he realises that Harry is determined to solve all of Michel's problems, without letting anything get in the way...
Harry He's Here to Help is a nail biting and blackly comic thriller that has been compared to the work of Alfred Hitchcock, Patricia Highsmith and the Coen Brothers."
It's superb. Trust me.
I'll post some more when I can think of them.
Memento is great, just don't watch it more than twice. It
> destroys it's greatness.
No it doesn't it. I don't think it does anyway. I have watched it a good 5 or 6 times, and still love it.
Requiem is a must have - it's the only film I've ever actually been scared to watch again. You'll see a lot of the stuff used in Pi, like the drug taking sequences.

K-PAX is out on R1 now, I think, get that. I havn't seen it, but I've heard it rocks.
A.I is okay, although I'm not a big fan of that kid, he's a good actor but gets annoying FAST. Jude Law was pretty damned funny though
Get Heat, with Rob De Niro, damn good film.
Any Kevin Smith films.
You've made me even more annoyed about missing Pi now. I was pretty tired last night and didn;t really feel like thinking, so I watched Dropzone instead of Pi and planned on taping Pi. However, after I started watching Dropzone, I completely forgot about Pi and when I remembered about it, I had already missed the first 20 minutes. I still taped the rest, but I'm guessing the first 20 minutes are pretty important.
Oh and by the way, get A.I as well.
Darren Aronofsky also directed Requiem for a Dream, I bought this and thought it was an excellent film. So try and get that if you can.
