INSIDE THE WORLD OF NVIDIA:
Offical Mag: Do you know how much of the polygon pushing potential of XBox is actually being used in something like DoA3?
Dave Kirk (Vice President of NVidia): I don't know the actual polygon counts in DoA3, but the models are certainly impressive. I would estimate, though, based on the amount of time the DoA3 team had to work on the XBox development, that they are probably using less than half of the possible polygon throughput that the XBox GPU is capable of. I think that you'll see games next year get a lot closer to the peak rates. That's one of the best things about the XBox GPU and memory architecture: those peak rates actually attainable, and sustainable.
LESS THAN HALF?!!
Oh. My. God. The 2nd 'generatipn' of games will look absolutely stunning, no doubt about it. And as long as they've got the playability of the 1st generation titles, I'll be one happy gamer for a good few years...
Gonna be checking the shops tomorrow hoping its in so I have something new to read plus a new demo to look through.
Also I'm considering a purchase of Blood Omen 2. But I want to see a bit more about it and an opinion before I go running in with my cash.
I was quite impressed with the Disk, I sent a few suggestions like Tech demos would be good :)
