If Nintendo have started a new trend of singular playing fields where the whole gameplay takes place in one environment, rather than the multitude of weird and wacky worlds we usually get in the one game, then there are a whole world (pardon the pun) of possibilities, for both Nintendo to explore, and us to explore after (ours will be more fun of course, because there won’t be bugs and stuff, y’know). Just think of the different places worldwide that Mario could explore, the crazy japes he could get up to, and the fun we could have controlling it. Here are a few suggestions, read them and see if you can think if some of your own…
MARIO’S EGYPTIAN ENDEAVOUR™
Remember the Egyptian level on the old Super Mario adventures on the original Game Boy? I loved that level! Loads of coins to get, those little enemies to kill, the big pyramid at the end, and remember the Sphinx? Just imagine a new Mario game set in Egypt – levels could be based in and around the pyramids, and how about a giant 3D, beautifully realised modern day incarnation of that Sphinx, full of stuff to do and explore. That would be so cool. Yup. Plus, Mario would fit in well with the Egyptians with his moustache (maybe he could grow a beard as well?), and how about a weird Yoshi/camel hybrid to travel around in?
SUPER MARIO ARCTIC ADVENTURE™
How about going to the other end of the spectrum? We’ve seen Mario sun himself in sunny Isle Delfino, so how about a trip to the Arctic for our Italian friend? Mario could build igloos, make SnowToads, pick fight’s with wary Eskimos over fish and er… stuff, and instead of getting sunglasses and a tropical shirt to reward your efforts, maybe some ski glasses, thick woolly gloves and a thick jacket would be more appropriate! And for once, maybe the bushy moustache and …ahem, excess body fat might come in handy…: D
SUPER MARIO SLOUGH™
Shadow Mario is back, and this time he’s grafiting the not so beautiful industrial resort of Slough …actually wait, no he’s not - the graffiti was already there in the first place. Sorry, Mario won’t be going here. (Please don’t sue, Bowser)
AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 LEVELS™
To be honest, I couldn’t think of a specific place to send Mario in his last destination, because there is just so many to choose from. So, the last one is a sort of round the world non-stop tour, like the one you win on Catchphrase, or with Michael Palin. So it’s down to you – the world is your oyster – you can decide where to travel with Mario, to the Great Wall of China (that would be some wall bounce), kick fruit around New York City, maybe visit Niagara Falls (imagine diving off of there), maybe Luigi could come along for the ride for once – he saves Mario from the Mansion, so at least he deserves a holiday of some sort – its up to you to decide where!
There’s a list of some of my choices for new holiday destinations for Mario, see if you can think of a few!

In the words of Manuel, 'Que?'
Oh it was so stupid, but fun!
Perhaps we could even see some of those old Mario Land levels and enemies brought-back into the future in full-3-D? Mario ventured into space in Mario Land 2 with a SpaceSuit... perhaps we could finally see the SpaceSuit and maybe also the Rabbit Ears brought into a 3-D adventure?
But I don't like the idea of having one game set-on just one area, like a desert. All those levels with all-that-sand would soon get too repetitive and boring. But by all means, a Mario game with variation in it is a great thing.
siny, shiny, shiny girbilloons will make everything okay.
