X-box is this, and X-box is that...I've been hearing this for the past 3 months! I finally had the privilege to work less and play more on one of these big beauties, and what a privilege it was. It seemed all well and cosy bashing on Dead or Alive 3 for about an hour, but finally I managed to get off the by now, over-heating machine. It is a huge console when compared to GC and PS2, but it can't be blamed. The amount of power it holds, including its huge hard drive needed a lot more room than the average console today. Size does seem to matter! Everyone wants the console with slick cutting edge design and seem to forget about what's most important, how well the machine performs. For such a powerful machine, the X-box's size isn't THAT big!
One thing many people have complained about is probably the most essential part used for playing...the control pads. Due to all these complaints I analysed it before playing and realised that most of waht some people said was true, but once I started twiddling with the buttons I got used to the controls. Could this be a result of my past gaming experience? Maybe, but nevertheless experienced gamers like myself wouldn't mind the size of the pad, just as long as the buttons were decently arranged, in other words reachable ( if that's a word), and gladly they were! Surprisingly, these humungous pads didn't have the common plastic feel that I was expecting, which made me even more impressed by the console.
Enough about the controllers, this debut X-box experience was one to remember, and coincidently DOA2 was the first PS2 game I ever played and also caught me by surprise. Now just think how chuffed I was playing its improved sequel...unexplainable! It was almost like I was in a world of my own. Everything seemed dark around me as I was standing, totally astounded by its capability. It wasn't until I felt a tapping on my back from a little kid that I managed to come out of this dream world. I wasn't going to let the kid play, then I saw who I presume was his father, big fella, towering behind him not looking at all happy, so I grudginly left my position and went elsewhere. I had to keep telling myself that I'd had enough, to stop being selfish because I had been playing for over an hour.
It's one of those things you have to see to believe. The X-box has brought out a range of opinions from a lot of people in these forums, but until you play it you must trust no-one.
DOA3 has to be the best beat-em-up experience I've ever had! The action was so fast and loads of cool moves left me slavering on the control pad, literally stunned. Every little piece of detail imaginable was there, like the snow markings left over from the fighters and the ultra realistic backgrounds. It really seemed to have won my vote, but can this capability be defeated? That is the question! There have been countless times where many of us have felt that "THIS IS IT", no console can surpass this, but each time we've been wrong. Now, because of this, we tend to think that it can be beaten, a console IS going to surpass this capability, and the X-box is another one of those consoles that you think no other console can make a game look so good.
The only reasonable suggestion to this would be that there will be more detail in games. Games can't look like real life itself or else it won't be a game. It would create maniacs, acting violent acts from a game e.g.SOE on the streets, so if consoles are going to improve they must keep the same "gaming" look we all enjoy today - meaning - not too realistic, but perfectly realistic for a game!
PS3 and X-box 2, apparently, are in the development stages already! Can you imagine how they're going to look? I can't imagine them producing games that look lusher than most of the X-box games look already...maybe they'll prove me wrong!
Tommorrow, I'm going back to the store, and hopefully PGR will be there to play.
Those of you who read this are LEGENDS!
Cheers ;)
:-D
I'm sure there's more than one legend here!

I dont think many of you know this but the follow up console to the XBox has been in development for over 3 years now...
I heard a rumour about 3 years ago that Gates had had a meeting with his top engineers and told them to creat a console bigger fatser and better than any console concievable... but then again it's a rumour.......
