I haven't really had the chance to play Max Payne for the PS2, but I have managed to play DMC.

Although Max Payne plays well, I don't think it reaches DMC's standard. They both have the same type of action, but Max Payne's a lot harder to control. Dante's really easy to control, whilst Payne isn't.

The only thing that I particularly liked about Max Payne for the PS2 were the Matrix moves he could perform. Once these were mastered I seemed to enjoy the game more. Still, there's nothing new added to this PS2 version, and I preferred the PC version because the PS2 version is a lot slower.

Could the fact that DMC was originally made for the PS2 and didn't first appear on the PC alter my decision...I think not! It hardly has any slowdown at and the action's great. Anyway, I've just lent it from my mate and I love it already!

Which one of the two do you guys prefer?

Not played MP but DMC is one of the best games around at the minute. While holding a good storyline, graphics and structure similar to the likes of Resident Evil, it has a slight arcade and speedy style to it, which certainly makes the game much better than anything before it. The game just flows so nicely, enemies just fly in from anywhere and this has to be the most addicive game in terms of killing them...after MGS 2 of course. The ability to change between gun and sword is amazing, i have spent ages just slashing 'things' and then as they fly to the walls and sprawl on the floor, i get my pistols out and finish em off.

I would really get DMC, im sure MP is good but i really cant see it beating DMC from what i have seen. Both games are good im sure, but its DMC that i turned for.

I really enjoyed playing through Max Payne - The plot was great and the inclusion of bullet time was perhaps the best aspect!!
However I prefer Devil May Cry - More of a challenge, a better storyline, unbeatable gameplay and the most amazing graphics Ive seen in a game!!

I didn't really like the cut-scenes, they could've been better.

The storyline's catching, but the eerie feel it has to it would've been better with more movie scenes than the comic feature it has!

DMC flows better and is definately prettier, but Max Paynes story and stylistic features definately make up for the "slightly ugly" look.

I was unable to decide between the two myself.

So I bought both :-)
