Ok, I've kinda read a bit about it, it sounds good, and very useful. But I dont know where to start! Forums, contact forms, hows it all done? CJH and Turbonutter, how did you learn all the mumbo-jumbo you know?

I uploaded a weak forum system here (http://www26.brinkster.com/ pinfall/testing/, that I coded up from a tutorial magazine, but it doesnt work (and yes, the server does support ASP). Because I dont know much at all about all of this, i dont know whats gone wrong and how to fix it.

Plz gimme some basics :D:D

I think the reason is that mainly business' usually use PHP, so free site hosts are hardly going to let them store there PHP scripts for free and then get a redirected domain name?!?

Ok thanks y'all. :D

Im gettin better, I cant code things up from scratch, but I can take other ready made things, and explain to myself whats happening.

The free host I use You can obtain a MySQL database, and it supports PHP too. Mind, everytime to click on sumthing, an annoying pop-under ad appears, but this is just for testin stuff out, innit!

When I had the option of adopting PHP or ASP, I chose PHP. I did this for the simple reason that it is completely free :D. I've got a book called 'Beginning PHP 4'. I've found it is very good, but also quite hard. Maybe this is because I've had no programming experience prior to this book, but I'm plodding along, slowly but surely.

I'm just about to start mySQL stuff but first, I need to find a free host that supports this. I know F2S used to, but they stopped there free service a while back. Any ideas?

I learn all my PHP through a book called "Sams Teach yourself PHP in 24 hours". It took longer than 24 hours to get though, but going through that book, doing the examples, then getting free scripts of the net and having a play with those, you'll soon pick up the codeing.

Don't know anyting about ASP mind you, but I'm sure the same process would work.

Go for PHP, it'll be cheaper if you want to use it later on in life. Start with the basics, I'm learning at the moment, I know basic stuff like include()s and date()s and stuff, and now I'm moving on to scripts and things. There are loads of tutorials on the net, but I prefer to get stuck in there, have a go then run to turbonutter when it goes wrong!!
