Just thought i would write a brief history of the MSX one of my all time favourite systems as i think it is a cool console in the day.

The MSX was one of the first attempts to set a standard in computer systems. Sony and Phillips developed it and Microsoft programmed the ROMs and operating systems.

In the early eighties the MSX was launched. The machine was way ahead of its competitors like the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum. In the second half of the eighties, the MSX2 was bought to the market it was a great success in Europe and Japan.

MSX was a world wide standard and therefore you could find MSX computers all over the world. Due to lack of support, wrong marketing and no future development plans for a MSX3 the computer died.

The computer died but no way forgotten, well what do you expect when they had companies like Konami (Producers of the amazing metal gear series) and Sega making games for them no wonder its not forgotten. Nintendo also made a few games for them including the now legendary Donkey Kong classic.

All of the MSX games can now be downloaded off the internet and are technically legal now as they are abandonware because sony and phillips are not making money off it at all. I would post a link to my msx site but i'm not sure if SR will like it.
I will post a link if SR say its ok

I'd never even seen an MSX running anything, but I always remember the guy who used to write the end article of C&VG in the early eighties used to be pretty much obsessed with them... and the screen shots looked fantastic, so its always stuck inthe back of my mind

To be honest i thopught people
