Right, I got myself a version of Photoshop6 and even though Photoshop7 is out on April 8th, I thought I'd take the time to learn this, anyways.

So, indulge me and tell me whats so damn good about this thing that you can't do in Fireworks4? It seems pretty similiar as in layout terms, but I'm sure there's lots of hidden things in here just waiting to be discovered.

heh, when you make an image from scratch in Photoshop you can't save it as anything other than a Photoshop file, .psd or whatever.
If your messing around with a .jpg then you can save it back again as a .jpg I think the same goes for .pngs and .gifs

Uh..

It just randomly removes "JPEG" from the list of file formats?

I might as well get a book on it, as I'm gonna need a version for the Mac and as Mac are akward, I'll have to get a trial version - which comes with the book - and then stick it on Mac along with another little tool and hey presto!! Kill two birds in one stone. Learn how to use it and get it for Mac. Sounds good.

And if you want FlashMX to last all that while longer then e-mail me.

Photoshop can't do banner animation, Fireworks is easier for buttons and the like (rollover/drop/hit) sometimes useful.
Photoshop is better for images, iv'e seen some damn nice buttons made in this program, better than Fireworks could do *splat buttons with shading* Photoshos a damn fine tool though, can't believe your asking why you should have it.
I'm just so lucky to have it.
Also this prgram was used in the making of LOTR so it's obviously good, i'll soon have some of my home made images on my website...*oooh*

Photoshop isnt better than Fireworks. Fireworks isn't better than Photoshop. They're incomparable.

Fireworks can manipulate objects, Photoshop can't. Photoshop can do advanced bitmap editing, Fireworks can't. Just use what you think is the best for the job, although if I'm doing web design and I have to choose between the two, Fireworks wins hands down.

Why ask me? sorry I took so long, been entertaining some weirdos.

But yes, this program is much better than Fireworks for many reasons but I use both of them, couldn't live without Fireworks because Photoshop doesn't always allow you to save in .jpg!

anyway, draw some images and mes around with the effects on the Filter tab.
Layer > effects ...and:
Image > adjust are my most used tabs.

Tutorials:

but there are loads more, try different things out, basically it's the same as Fireworks but I find the tools are a lot stronger and are much, much better for details.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
