Okay, my second hand pc - it has an on-board graphics chip, with a monitor socket, and another graphics card also in there, with a seperate monitor socket (maybe that's obvious, if they all have that, i don't really know a lot about it). Anyway, i have 2 graphics things, with a seperate socket to the monitor for each.
My hard drive recently needed reformatting, and i lost the graphics card driver, amongst other things. Previously the graphics card was being used.
After reformatting, the computer is running in 16 colors.
When the monitor is plugged into the socket for the on-board chip, there is no display at all, i think either because it's broken or switched off.
When plugged into the card's socket, i get 16 colors.
I don't know the type of the card in the computer, and can't contact the guy i bought it from, and would need to know a bit about it so as to get hold of the right driver.
I don't care whether i use the card or on-board chip, i just want more than 16 colors.
Also, i can't see to get into BIOS, the manual says to press f10 during startup, but it doesn't work any more. (i know it used to, before i changed to windows me, thought changing might not be the cause).
Okay, so i either need to switch to the on-board chip or find out what kind of graphics card i have and get a driver.
Anyone help?
Thanks, DD
