The Xbox has been heralded by its own magazines and fans as the first truly "Western" console.
Designed, built and manufactured in America and Europe, and Western gamers are going to get all the good games first....erm I can see a slight problem with that.
What are the truly great games on the Playstation 2 ? You've all got your own ideas but I'm guessing that Metal Gear Solid 2 and Gran Turismo 3 feature on those lists pretty much everywhere. Dead Or Alive 2 ? Tekken Tag ? And the new games heading our way, like ICO and Vampire Night, Gran Turismo B Concept.....all Japanese development teams. Nintnedo are the same, Mario was born in Japan, Kirby ( a rather odler mascot), Starfox, Pikmin....all great games. Even in Japan Microsoft is trying to get developers onboard but they seem less than willing, with Capcom keeping Resident Evil to the Gamecube and Namco and Square not exactly sounding enthusiastic.
We in the UK have to wait for games that make the often slow journey to the US, than us, but at least we know that the stream of games exists. Uk development teams produce superb titles as well, but only the Japanese can seem to come up with titles as revolutionary as ICO, it really is a great game to pay if you can get the demo or game. For those who still doubt the Japanese's excellence; "Final Fantasy".
West isn't always best, and I'd miss all the wonderful Japanese made games that come to the Playstation 2, even if they do have sometimes wacky characters !

same goes for cars, tv's hi-fi's and anything else electrical that the japs make.
